Educomp participated as the Learning Partner at WORLD DIDAC INDIA 2009 from 24th to 26th September 2009 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. WORLDDIDAC is an international exhibition for educational resources and training. WORLD DIDAC INDIA 2009 was associated with the CII Global Skill & Education Summit that took place concurrently with the exhibition.

The exhibition is supported by International Associations like BESA (British Educational Suppliers Association) and DIDACTA (Germany) which are the largest association in this segment in their countries. WORLDDIDAC INDIA 2009 was backed by various international ministries ensuring presence of prominent companies as exhibitors. Soumya Kanti, President ICT at Educomp Solutions Limited was the member of the Advisory Board to the event.

The event served as an excellent forum for showcasing the latest and innovative technology, training solutions, infrastructure, inventive materials and educational advancements and services. It also enabled the participants to evolve a basic understanding among attendees to interact, pool resources and exchange ideas on education issues so as to provide new business opportunities.

Karnataka’s Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, inaugurated the exhibition. Ribbon cutting ceremony and a tour of exhibition was followed by welcome remarks for the session.

The inaugural panelists apart from the honorary minister included Dr Sudhir Kapur, chairman CII(NR) subcommittee on Skills and Education; Mr. Soumya Kanti, President ICT at Educomp Solutions Limited; Mr. Dominic Savage, President WORLDDIDAC, and Mr. Reinhard Koslitz, Director General DIDACTA International.

Dr Sudhir Kapur, chairman CII(NR) subcommittee on Skills and Education made an introductory speech. This was followed by an address by Mr. Dominic Savage who said, "There is a need to showcase and bring global technology and products to the Indian market and open doors to sustained progress. World Didac India 2009 aims to cater to this need by bringing everyone in the industry under one umbrella." In his inaugural address, congratulating the CII and Worlddidac India for organizing the exhibition, Mr Kageri said, "I am very pleased to be present at the inaugural function. This type of exhibition will no doubt enable us to get insight into various systematic changes that are taking place in education sector, so that the younger generation will benefit from the new initiatives, which will be able to compete with contemporary global challenges." Mr. Soumya Kanti, President Educomp Solutions Ltd, said, "Educomp is proud to be closely associated with the launch of the Worlddidac Programme in India. Over the years, Educomp has designed and developed several products and solutions and implemented them in over 23,000 schools across the world where technology has been used innovatively to improve the quality of teaching learning both inside and outside the classrooms. In India, we are proud to be working across the entire socio-economic strata where students even in the remotest of schools are using computer aided education to help, improve, and create a better future for themselves."

Companies including Educomp Solutions Ltd, Promethean, Intel, Siemens Ltd, EuroTalk, Mimio, and Teachit Ltd., participated in the exhibition to showcase new trends, especially the creative technologies. The participants also used the opportunity to present their capacity in providing infrastructure, generating teaching and training methodologies that facilitate learning, skill development and teaching. Educomp Solutions Limited marked its presence by participating in Worlddidac India 2009 as a learning partner, with a booth befitting India’s largest education company with a global outlook.

Educomp primarily addresses the key markets of private schools, government schools, educational content, teacher training, supplemental educational services, pre-schools, professional and higher education, as well as online learning. At the event, Educomp showcased its entire range of educational programmes, products and services that cater to both global and Indian audience. The key products exhibited by Educomp included smartclass, Edureach, Educomp O3, Raffles Millennium International, Pearson JV, Educomp Tele Education Network (ETEN), Learning Hour, Mathguru, WiZiQ, Learnhub, etc. The display was greatly appreciated by those who attended the event.

Mr Kageri also paid a visit to the Educomp booth, which incidentally was the largest in the exhibition. The Educomp official representatives welcomed him and demonstrated the various educational programmes, products and services. The Educomp booth was crowded throughout the exhibition with educational professionals, technology experts, corporate, teachers, principals and school managers thronging the booth.

WORLDDIDAC INDIA 2009, turned out to be India’s first and largest exhibition and conference devoted to the education and training sector. The event was organised and hosted as a joint effort between the Worlddidac Association and Eventz Network Limited. More than 70 prominent manufacturers, suppliers, publishers and distributors of educational and training solutions, products and services from across the world participated in the exhibition.

Over the 3 days of the exhibition, there were thousands of visitors from countries like Afghanistan, South Africa, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, SriLanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, UK, Ukraine, USA, Vietnam and West Indies. The occasion provided them with an opportunity to review the latest trends and future developments in the education and training sector at a global level.

Educomp had several prominent speakers participating at the CII Global Skill & Education Summit that took place concurrently with the exhibition. Aslesha Thakur spoke on “Leveraging Technology for Quality and Scale” on 25th September 2009. Her session was to discuss avenues available for the process reengineering of our delivery systems and how leveraging ICT can speed up the delivery of quality with quantity. Mr Sharad Talwar, President, Educomp Vocational Education (P) Limited, spoke on “Indian Education Sector: Preparing for the future”. The Session focus was based on the premise that, “Education is intended to develop basic learning skills as well as life skills of students. As per the current definition, the literacy rate in India is at 71%. However, there is no specific measure for ‘functional literacy’. The CII vision of India@75 sets the target of 200 million university graduates by 2022. It also sets a target for India to be the global hub of knowledge creation.” The discussion was on what needs to be done to prepare Indian Education Sector to meet these challenges.

Worlddidac also announced the launch of its India chapter, India Didac Association, which will have more than 60 members including Educomp Solutions Limited and Intel.

Overall, Educomp at Worlddidac 2009 made a lasting impression among the exhibitors and visitors and they returned with Educomp’s image transfixed in their minds.
