The Edu Smart™ engine is a sophisticated tool that allows teachers to search for content, author content into a repository, build question banks, schedule content for delivery and do real time assessment.

The Edu Smart™engine is a unique tool that was created in response to the needs of teachers to use supplemental content inside the classroom. Thus it is created for a one to many delivery paradigm in which the teacher controls the pedagogy model i.e. the teacher decides how to use the content and scaffolds the content either by using oral instruction or a variety of instructional strategies such as group work, project based learning etc. The Edu Smart™ engine also controls the use of wireless assessment devices or student reponse systems in the classroom thus enabling teachers to take get real time assessment done and link the same to the learning standards.

The usage of the engine starts in the “knowledge centre” in the school where teachers are able to specify learning objectives which they propose to teach and the tool throws up a list of content that maps to the learning standards.

In the Edu Smart™ engine, content is defined in three ways
a) multimedia animated modules
b) Assessment and
c) Smart Ideas.

The teacher is also able to preview the content, add or delete questions , choose the content that matches her lesson plan and schedule it for a particular session with the students.

The teacher also has an authoring tool interface which allows her to add her own content which could be either multimedia modules or tests or classroom ideas.

The teacher then goes to the class and is able to deliver the lesson to the students using the content that she has put into her virtual basket.

The wireless assessment system , plugs in directly into the smart class engine and the teacher can define if she wants to deliver a smart test inside the classroom. On her clicking the smart assessment button, the test launches and the teacher can get a wide varierty of reports on student performance. This software is web enabled and can be used in an ASP mode. It is built using the .NET framework and is highly scaleable.
