ASSAM implements “Smart School Program” Comprehensive ICT for Assam Govt. Primary Schools
In a significant endeavor to expand elementary education to international grade by scaling Information Technology and community-ownership of the school-system in Assam, the Axom Sarba Siksha Abhijan (ASSA) mission acting on behalf of the State Government of Assam lately commenced the “Smart School Program” with the singular mission to radically augment the teaching-learning process through IT initiatives for the students of upper-primary schools.

The Axom Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (ASSA) is a vital response to the universal demand for quality basic education all over the country. The ASSA program is an attempt to provide a pedestal to all children for improving human faculty and aptitude. Under the scaffold of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan the Govt. of Assam intends to entirely implement Computer Aided Learning. The 3-stage implementation of “Smart Schools Project” in Assam was deployed as:

Stage-I: Involving creation of 93 multimedia based curriculum for students of classes V and VI on pre-identified hard-spots (topics) in Science, Mathematics and English in 3 languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali and Bodo.
Stage-II: Complement training of 1000 teachers across the state in the applying of technology and content in the classroom. This was a first of its kind program conducted in India, where simultaneous training was conducted across 23 locations in Assam; in 3 languages by installing immense infrastructure and manpower.
Stage-III: Implementation of the content in the 500 schools across the state.

Educomp employed the local talent and manpower available in the entire process of implementation, besides setting up an office in Guwahati. The complete scripting and audio-recording too was completed in Guwahati, under the supervision of experts. The teacher-training across the state was also conducted by hiring more than 50 trainers across the various districts as reported.
