Government of West Bengal

Scope of Project
The Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Government of West Bengal intends to provide the Computer Literacy to students in Higher and Senior Secondary Schools across the state.
Educomp has been chosen as an implementing agency to provide the Computer Hardware, Software, other Connected Accessories and Computer Education to 500 Government and Government aided Higher Secondary Schools under School Education Project for the period of 6 years on a BOOT basis. Educomp will also provide Faculty in the schools who will be imparting training to the students as well as the teachers in English and Bengali.

Objectives of Projects are:

 
To provide the Computer Education to the students of the Government and Government aided Schools in the State of West Bengal.
To provide and maintain the computer hardware, software and necessary infrastructure like furniture and fixtures.
To provide full time instructors at each school for teaching students and for imparting training to teachers.
To provide consumables like computer stationery etc.
To develop and supply the courseware for students for Computer Education.
To impart training to Government Teachers.
Course Curriculum
The Classes VI to XII are covered under this project. They are taught the curriculum specified by the School Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal. All the books of the project have been designed and developed by Educomp. In addition the interactive computer aided education will be imparted which help the students to overcome the fears of computers, learn key concepts in computers.

Teacher Training
Educomp’s professional development team will train the Teachers and the Principal in each school in Computers Sciences. Training would empower teachers with technological skills so that they are confident of using the latest techniques while teaching. More importantly the training would be meant to motivate teachers to use these devices overcoming there initial fear and apprehension.
