SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

To engender in the child the ability to make up different roles and act them out
while playing with dolls and related props. |

To enable the child to learn uses of various things
that they see and use at home.

PRE-REQUISITES |
 |
The child has a basic / latent awareness of family roles. |
|
|
|
|
WHAT YOU”LL NEED |
|
1. |
Soft toys like teddy bears / dolls, and their costumes. |
|
2. |
Costumes to be worn
by the children themselves e.g., dupattas, old spectacle frames,
shirts, socks, ties, ribbons, hair accessories, bags, wallets etc.
|
|
3. |
Household things like kitchen utensils, buckets, tubs, broom, duster etc. |
|
4. |
A big cardboard box |

|
|
WHAT TO DO |
|
1. |
Take the children to the activity room for free dramatic play activity. |
|
2. |
Place
all the objects and costumes in a big box in the center. Place the teddy bears,
dolls, doll clothes and other stuffed toys around the room.
|
|
3. |
Let the children play with and dress the toys in whatever way they wish to. |
|
4. |
Observe and supervise the children at play to ensure their safety. Join in, and
engage in pretend play with the props – thereby prompting and encouraging the children
to do likewise. |
|
5. |
Ask the children to take care of their ‘babies’, talk about what they are doing
and how they feel. |
|
6. |
Encourage them to verbalize what they are doing and use the props as much as possible.
Tell them to play mummy and daddy going to work etc. or behave like a small baby
in a family, or be "him / herself".

7. |
Encourage them to use the utensils, broom etc. and tell them to do what the maid
does at home. Tell them to pretend like their grandparents, siblings, if they have
any. |

EVALUATION
The ability of the child to:
be imaginative.
imitate real life situations using the available material.
wait for his/her turn to play with a desired object. |
